The Department of Labour’s formerly-named Occupational Safety and Health Service (OSH) published the first edition of the Guidance Notes on Providing First Aid Equipment, Facilities and Training in 2001. The Department of Labour has updated this publication in order to: •include amendments to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 that came into effect in May 2003 •provide for the revocation of the Factories and Commercial Premises (First Aid) Regulations 1985 (these were revoked on 6 November 2008) •align first aid training requirements with New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) registered unit standards, and •reflect current good practice operating in a range of diverse workplaces across New Zealand.
